Inside the UK’s new home of food-to-go packaging: Paranova completes landmark £5m transformation of St Neots packaging facility

Leading sustainable manufacturer Paranova Print and Packaging has marked this year’s British Sandwich Week (18th–24th May 2026) with the official opening of what is now the UK’s new home of fibre-based food-to-go packaging, following the completion of a landmark £5 million transformation of its dual manufacturing operation in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

Already responsible for the manufacture of more than 700 million recyclable food-to-go packs annually, with three board production sites, the investment establishes Paranova’s St Neots operation as the largest fibre-based food-to-go manufacturing site in Europe, accelerating the company’s UK and European growth ambitions while further strengthening its market-leading service offer and long-term commitment to sustainable paper-based packaging for the rapidly growing sector.

Tripling capacity with an additional 2,000SQM of production space, the flagship St Neots operation has been transformed into a factory of the future - purpose-built around high-speed workflow, manufacturing efficiency and waste reduction.

At the heart of the investment is a new custom-built Bobst press featuring bespoke capabilities for lined board food-to-go applications, strengthening Paranova’s ability to deliver one of the industry’s most sustainability-advanced packaging portfolios, while helping customers respond to evolving environmental legislation, accelerating paperisation and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements.

The state-of-the-art technology supports innovation across a broad range of food-to-go formats, including sandwich skillets, wrap boxes, trays and cartons, while delivering enhanced print quality, improved consistency and greater production efficiency.

Jo Ormrod, CEO at Paranova Print and Packaging, said “This investment marks a defining moment for Paranova and reinforces our ambition to lead the future of sustainable food-to-go packaging.

“By developing the UK’s new home of food-to-go packaging, we have built a manufacturing operation designed around innovation, quality and sustainability - enabling us to better support our customers with scalable fibre-based solutions that meet both consumer expectations and evolving legislation.”

The news also follows Paranova’s recent success at this year’s Sammies Awards, where the business secured multiple category wins and commendations recognising its leadership in food-to-go packaging innovation and sustainability. Awards included the New Packaging Award for the Co-op Turkey & Gravy Double Dip Wrap developed alongside Samworth Brothers, as well as the Environmental & Sustainability Award for its No Waste initiative with Coveris, further reinforcing Paranova’s reputation for delivering high-performance, sustainable packaging solutions through collaborative customer partnerships.

Following the transformational investment and continued market success, Paranova is now preparing to launch the next evolution of its award-winning RecyclaLite innovation - a major new advancement designed to help customers further reduce EPR impact while accelerating the transition towards lower-impact fibre-based food-to-go packaging solutions.
