Qualvis welcomes HRH The Duke of Kent to packaging site

Alongside other engagements, the Duke had expressed a wish to visit a successful UK manufacturing company during his time in the county.

Qualvis was selected on account of its recent achievements, including winning this year's Leicester Mercury Business Awards 'Company of the Year' Award.

Accompanied at the Leicestershire manufacturing site by the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Jennifer, Lady Gretton, The Duke of Kent was introduced to the Mayor of the Borough of Charnwood, Councillor Pauline Ranson, and directors of the company, including the former chairman, David Short, chairman, Jason Short, and general manager, Marcus Short.

Following a short presentation, His Royal Highness was taken on a tour of the factory where he met with staff and was shown the company's design, print and production capabilities.

Key aspects of the company's recent investments were also pointed out during his walk round, including a KBA Rapida 106 7-colour press and the firm's double digital packaging line featuring a Xerox iGen 4 sheet-fed digital printer, side-by-side with an iGen5 automated line.

Following the visit, Jason Short said: "It was a real honour for Qualvis Print & Packaging to host The Duke of Kent and to showcase how innovative a company we are. He was particularly impressed with our unique 'Qube' design and the high level of investment we've made in future technology and software to provide creative solutions for our customers. It was a special day all round."
