INTRODUCTION TO BOARDMAKING COURSE AT HOLMEN IGGESUND

In October 2025, Holmen Iggesund Workington hosted the BPIF Cartons Foundation Training Course on Boardmaking, engaging employees from carton converters - Offset Group - Packaging Supplier, Kennedy Smith Press Ltd, Autajon Packaging Simply Cartons, Alexir Partnership, Medica Packaging and Castle Colour Packaging Ltd.

The two-day course gave attendees a hands-on insight into how cartonboard is made - linking directly to forest in Sweden to learn about sustainable forestry management, to a full mill tour covering boardmaking and finishing.

Participants saw the process from wood chips to finished board in action and gained a valuable understanding of the technology and craftsmanship that goes into every sheet.
