METHYL BENZOPHENONE - BE AWARE !!

• It may be helpful to note the ECMA recommendation and to review your company position on the use of inks and varnishes containing benzophenone or 4MBP.
• Contact your ink supplier to source alternatives.
• The partners in the supply chain remain entirely responsible (shared responsibility) for the safety of the chemicals used.
• In this context, ink and varnish producers, carton makers and food manufacturers will have to (further) improve the required communications in the chain as required in the GMP regulation 2023/2006
• Your national food safety authorities have already been alerted by European authorities. BPIF Cartons will, as appropriate, make the FSA aware of the above recommendations.
