“FANTASTIC PACKAGING PLANT” – NEW MP ENJOYS VISIT TO COLPAC

“FANTASTIC PACKAGING PLANT” – NEW MP ENJOYS VISIT TO COLPAC

Newly elected Labour MP Alistair Strathern recently visited BPIF member Colpac Ltd at its Flitwick factory for an insight into all things packaging and sustainability.

He joined Colpac’s ESG Manager, Talia Goldman, and several of the company’s directors on 14th March for an in-depth tour, observing packaging production from start to finish and meeting Colpac team members along the way.

Alistair got stuck into understanding how Colpac works, and discussed topics key to the industry, including net zero support, industrial strategy, maintaining competitiveness, and import tariffs. As Parliamentary Private Secretary to both Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves MP and Shadow Secretary for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband MP, Alistair has strong connections in the Labour Party on issues which impact the industry.

Alistair won his seat in Parliament in the Mid-Bedfordshire by-election last autumn, becoming the area’s first Labour MP.

Alistair publicised his visit on social media, writing on Facebook and Twitter:

“Great afternoon visiting @colpacpackaging in Flitwick to see their fantastic packaging plant in action!

Good discussions on everything from reducing single use plastic to the importance of local skills and industrial strategies.”

Talia Goldman, ESG Manager at Colpac, said: “We were delighted to host Alistair at our factory and to demonstrate how we manufacture our paperboard packaging. As proud advocates of UK manufacturing, we enjoyed the opportunity to promote local industry and to initiate conversations around topics that affect us.”

Colpac is an award-winning British designer and manufacturer of paperboard food packaging. The company is committed to its design and manufacturing base in the UK, and demonstrates creativity inspired by its global markets. Colpac is part of BPIF’s environmental and technical committees and is active in supporting industry developments.
