Coveris wins European Carton Excellence Award

Leading packaging manufacturer Coveris has been announced as winner of a European Carton Excellence Award. Europe's most prestigious awards for cartonboard packaging, the European Carton Excellence Awards were established over 20 years ago and showcase innovative, creative and sustainable use of cartonboard from across the continent.

Announced at the ECMA (European Carton Makers Associations) Congress in Riga, Latvia, Coveris was revealed as the confectionery category award winner, judged by an independent, international jury representing a broad range of expertise in the supply chain.

Coveris' winning entry is a colourful and enticing packaging for Booja-Booja's Rainbow Collection of luxury truffles. Created to provide an indulgent consumer experience, Booja-Booja's packaging features detailed dual-face print, fun and collectable Boojagrams, foil embellishment and a functional reclose option. The packaging has been re-designed and developed to maintain top-tier presentation and perception using a less complex structure with fewer materials, resulting in improved efficiencies and environmental performance during production.

The judges commented: "A combination of bright colours, nice opening and closing feature and presentation of the chocolates really caught the judge's attention. Add to that an unexpected carton tag inner for additional product communication made this a simple but effective pack."

Matt Gilding, Operations Director for Booja-Booja said, "The packaging design for the Rainbow Collection enabled us to launch an exciting chilled chocolate truffle product in eye-catching, beautiful chocolate boxes. The design is continuing to evolve as we work further with Coveris to launch our new Twelve Truffle Gift Boxes using a similar but further developed packaging design concept."
